Dr. Austin graduated Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2003 and entered active duty in the US Army.  He completed a 1 year Advanced General Dentistry Residency at Ft. Campbell, KY and was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armor Division, Baumholder, Germany.  He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and participated in the Battle for Ramadi in 2006.  Upon return, he entered Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Complex in 2007.  

Upon graduation in 2011, he was assigned the role of Assistant Program Director, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, GA, and after 2 years, was named Program Director of residency training.  He continued in that role through successful accreditation and completed his tour as Chief of Service, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2018 to 2020.  Dr. Austin attained the rank of Colonel and completed his service at Tripler Army Medical Center as the Oral and Maxillofacial Chief of Service until his retirement in 2023.

Dr. Austin is a recipient of the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Army Medicine ‘A’-Designator, and the Order of Military Medical Merit, among other awards.  He also attained the Expert Field Medic Badge and Combat Action Badge during military service.


Dr. Austin is proud of the care he rendered to service members and their families throughout the years, and is excited to settle in Brevard County near family.  Dr. Austin is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He is well versed in the full scope of Craniofacial Trauma, Orthognathic Surgery, Dentoalveolar/Implant Surgery, Pathology, and Temporomandibular Joint Surgery.  He values honesty and communication, and always seeks what is best for the patient given the variables of care. 

Dr. Austin has been married to Kristine Austin since 1999, and they have 2 children: Madison and Axl.  They are members of a local church family and feel extremely blessed to call Brevard County home.
