Brow lift

When it comes to options for improving your personal appearance, the options are pretty much endless. From dental concerns and bone grafts, to weight loss support, there are procedures available to help with any concern you may have. One cosmetic procedure that is beginning to get a lot more attention is the brow lift.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift is a rather straightforward cosmetic procedure that raises the hairline of the eyebrow. Thereby, correcting any sagging brow or asymmetry along the brow line. Sometimes referred to as a forehead lift or a forehead rejuvenation, a brow lift has the ability to completely transform the look of the face. A lift enhances the appearance of the brow and forehead. The lift can be done entirely on its own as a stand-alone cosmetic procedure, or it may be done in conjunction with several other cosmetic procedures, such as eyelid surgery or a facelift.

The idea behind a lift is simple. The procedure condenses the skin on the forehead, thereby raising where the eyebrow appears on the face and reducing the amount of skin present on the forehead. This in turn reduces the amount of wrinkles that are present on the face. This procedure helps the face to appear more alert and refreshed. As time goes on and eyebrows begin to sag, it can leave you with the appearance of being tired or angry, regardless of how you actually feel. For many, the appearance of being tired or unhappy contributes to the appearance of old-age.Having the brow lifted can help you feel more your age and more confident about your appearance.

About the Procedure

The brow lift procedure doesn’t actually require any treatment to the eyebrows themselves. The procedure is done in a hospital or outpatient surgical center, where you will be monitored and provided with as much support and pain management as possible. A general anesthetic is used so that you are unconscious and don’t experience any discomfort during the procedure.

There are several different methods that may be used to do the brow lift procedure. You can talk with Dr. Kim at Sunrise Facial and Oral Surgery to find out what type of method is best for you.

Three Primary Techniques:

  1. Endoscopic brow lift: This type of brow lift is completed endoscopically. This means a camera is attached to a long tube and inserted into one of the forehead incisions made. The surgeon uses this to clearly see the muscles and tissue underneath the forehead. The incision is made just along the hairline, which provides your surgeon with access to your forehead tissues. These tissues are then lifted. Excess tissue and fat is removed and if needed, muscles are realigned.
  2. Coronal brow lift: A coronal brow lift is completed from an incision behind the hairline along the top of the head, which often stretches from ear to ear. From this incision, the forehead is then lifted by overlapping the scalp. The excess skin from the scalp is then removed and the remaining skin on the scalp is sewn together.
  3. Hairline brow lift: A hairline brow lift is completed through an incision along the hairline, just at the front of the forehead. A small amount of skin is removed from the top of the forehead, leaving the scalp largely unaffected. This prevents the hairline from being pulled back, as well. This type of method is most commonly used for those who have a high receding hairline.
