One of first points of reference of the face is often the nose. It’s the central part of the face and often the least favorite feature for many. However, small changes to it make a significant impact in your appearance. Not surprisingly, altering the nose with cosmetic procedure (rhinoplasty) is among the top five most popular cosmetic surgeries performed in the United States year after year. Therefore, the demand for liquid rhinoplasty has also increased steadily.

While a rhinoplasty provides long-lasting results, it may not be for everyone. More often than not, the cost and the downtime can be off-putting for patients in addition to the fear and anxiety that comes along with facial surgery in general. Rest assured, if you are unhappy with the shape of your nose, we’ve got another option that might work perfectly for you!

Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty, also called “Liquid Rhinoplasty” is the injection of a dermal filler into the nose to alter its shape. It’s a great option for patients that have isolated insecurities of their nose, such as a hump or minor asymmetries.

It’s even an option for patients that have had a surgical rhinoplasty in the past and have minor irregularities, postoperatively. These patients, however, require more expertise and care in their injections as the blood supply has already been altered following surgery and the risks of complications can be higher.

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty also comes with a much more attractive price point. There is little to no need to take any time off of work as there is no downtime and the results are instant.

If a patient has been considering surgical rhinoplasty, they may choose a liquid rhinoplasty to test out whether they want to take the plunge. Results from a liquid rhinoplasty are temporary and last as long as the dermal filler is expected to last.

Dermal Fillers for Rhinoplasty

It’s important to remember that during this procedure, we will be injecting filler, and therefore adding volume. This technique will augment the nose, so it not a good option for those patients that already have large noses or may be considering a reduction. While there are different tricks we can use to create the illusion of a smaller nose, the nose will be bigger objectively, regardless.

Understanding that the nose has an intricate blood supply that essentially creates an arcade of small arteries and veins that connect ultimately with the eyes. Not to scare anyone, but if injected by someone that does not have a thorough understanding of this anatomy, not only can this result in complications of vascular compromise, skin necrosis and infections, but blindness could also develop. This is why choosing the right surgeon to perform such a procedure is so significant.
