Please Read These Instructions Carefully
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. If IV/general anesthesia is being administered on the day of surgery.
a. Patients may NOT have anything to EAT or DRINK eight (8) hours prior to surgery, (i.e., no gum, candy, crackers, water, etc.….)
b. Patients given Valium, to be taken by mouth one hour prior to their procedure, are to take this medication with a SIP of WATER only!
c. Patients must be accompanied by a licensed adult driver on the day of surgery. Your driver must stay in the waiting room while you are in surgery.
******THEY MUST NOT LEAVE THE PREMISES******
2. Patients MUST refrain from Marijuana, CBD, and any other forms of recreational drugs for 72 hours prior to surgery. Deviation of this recommendation can be life threatening during your anesthesia.
3. If the patient is prescribed an inhaler, they must bring it to their surgery appointment to be used prior to surgery. Result of failure to do this, can cost $50.00 to purchase one in our office.
4. Wear comfortable clothing – short sleeves, flat shoes. No “flip-flops” , sandals or heels please.
5. Please NO MAKEUP!
6. If a patient is a contact lens wearer, please do not wear them on the day of surgery.
7. Please be sure to schedule someone to stay with you for the 24 hours following surgery.
8. All patients under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
9. Fees for surgery must be paid in full on the day of surgery unless financial arrangements have been made prior to your appointment.
It is our desire that your recovery be as smooth and pleasant as possible. Following these instructions will assist you, but if you have questions about your progress, please call the office where you had surgery. A 24-hour answering service is available to contact the doctor on call after hours. Calling during office hours will afford a faster response to your question or concern. PLEASE NOTE: telephone calls for narcotic (pain killer) prescription renewals are ONLY accepted during office hours.
